We held our first Owners’ Forum hosted by NYCEDC and facilitated by Joanne Iddon (Arup) and Rob Raynes (Turner Townsend). We had over 30 attendees from 10 current City/State agencies for this 3-hour workshop. Highly successful forum. DBIA New York City Region Owners’ Committee facilitated the first round table discussion with a number of New York City based agencies and authorities. The objective of the round table was to facilitate a knowledge share and cross organization connections for the agencies and authorities. The first round table focused on each organizations experience with Design Build, areas they want to seek experience and expertise from others who maybe further down the Design Build freeway and just be aware of what risks and issues others are facing. The feedback from the group for the first session was very positive and the group have agreed to a bi-annual round table. The next topic requested will be to discuss the regulatory framework for Design Build and how the use of Progressive Design Build could be used in New York. The DBIA Owners Rep panel is deeply appreciative of the support from the agencies and authorities time and support with the first round table, and that the DBIA has been able to facilitate the NY industry with the use the Design Build delivery method. The next forum will be in September (focusing on legislation contracts and procurement), and we will expand the invitation to additional entities such as DASNY, BPCA, and NYSDOT.
